Family Division

Monday, June 6, 2022: Family and Fraud & Consumer Protection Divisions

Hey, it’s Julianne Murray and I am here for our Murray Monday Minute.

We have been talking about the structure of the Office of the Attorney General and I said that there are divisions that are what I call citizen divisions.

We are going to talk about two this week.

One is the Family Division and it is comprised of three units.

  1. They are Child Protection Unit, which deals with dependency and neglect and termination of parental rights.

  2. The Child Support Unit, which helps enforce child support orders, and then

  3. the Child Delinquency and Truancy Unit, which deals with juveniles, but it deals with the police probation court and schools.  That is one division.

The other division is the Fraud and Consumer Protection Division. It is comprised of five units.

  1. Unit one, is the Consumer Mediation Unit, which deals with foreclosure mediation and also has an ombudsman who deals with HOAs and manufactured housing communities.

  2. There is a Consumer Protection Division, which deals with fraud and scams for the general public.

  3. There is the Investor Protection Unit, which investigates claims of investors under the Delaware Securities Act.

  4. There is the White Collar Crime Unit, which deals with embezzlement, money laundering. Home improvement fraud actually falls under that unit.

  5. And then the last unit is the Medicare Fraud Unit, which deals with Medicare fraud, but it also investigates patient abuse.

So, we have done the Criminal Division, Civil, Family, Fraud, and Consumer Protection.  We got one more, we are going to do it next week. It is the Civil Rights and Public Trust Division.

I told you I was going to be fearless about this election.

Fearless out!
