Civil Rights and Public Trust Division

Monday, June 13, 2022: Finishing up our tour of the Office of the Attorney General divisions

Hey, it’s Julianne Murray and I am here for our Murray Monday Minute.

This week we are going to finish up our tour of the Office of the Attorney General divisions by talking about the newest division, Civil Rights and Public Trust and it has four areas of responsibility.

  • The first, it has to do with individual liberties under enforcement of laws having to do with individual liberties under the Delaware Constitution and the US Constitution.  Things like housing accommodation, housing discrimination, employment, people with disabilities.

  • Second area is actually about ensuring people's trust in government.  We talk about election laws.  We talk about use of public funds.  We talk about conduct of public officers.

The last two areas are more investigatory.

  • One has to do with use of force investigations of law enforcement,

  • and the last one has to do with law enforcement officer involved shootings where they actually investigate to see whether there was criminal conduct.

So, that is the Civil Rights and Public Trust Division.

We have done all five.  We did Criminal, Civil, Family, Fraud and Consumer Protection, and Civil Rights and Public Trust.

I told you I was going to be fearless.

Fearless out!
