Unsecured Defendants

March 14, 2022: Defendants that are not being secured while they are pre-trial status

Hey, it’s Julianne Murray for our Murray Monday Minute and we are inside this week instead of outside with the whole wind blowing look going on.

Remember I was talking about that I want to prioritize public safety and that there is two different issues going on:  there is the law enforcement that are retiring and resigning, but there is another half to it and that is defendants that are not being secured while they are pre-trial status.

Now, don’t turn this into, I am saying everybody should be in jail when they are pre-trial.  Because I don’t think that.  We absolutely have to balance the constitutional rights of the defendant, but there is another side to that balance and that is the public safety aspect.

We have an AG that wants to end the cash bail.

Security is not a priority for her.  For me, it is a huge priority.

Public safety is a priority and I think that we need to be ensuring appearances by our defendants, but also making them pay security.

So, that’s kind of the other half of the prioritizing public safety.

Remember, it is that I am fearless about this election.

Fearless out!
